Have questions? We've got answers:
What is the PTA?
The PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is a national advocacy group for children that is responsible for establishing the Kindergarten program, Hot & Healthy Lunches, Child Labor Laws, Arts in Education, and many more vitally important programs.
In addition to supporting these national programs, here at Blue Lake Elementary, the PTA is a wonderful group of teachers, volunteers, staff, board members and families just like you!
What does the Blue Lake PTA do?
The Blue Lake PTA proudly supports programs and events throughout the year that directly benefit our students. Some of these programs include Gator Store, Carnival, the tutorial program, Fall Festival, Father/Daughter & Mother/Son Dances, Tile Night, Safety Patrol trip and more!
Working hand-in-hand with administration, teachers, and volunteers, the PTA is an incredible group of people who want to help your child succeed!
If I join the PTA, am I required to volunteer at school?
Absolutely not. We love it when our families want to get involved and help out at school, but it is NOT a requirement. Some of the reasons we do think you would like to join include:
Who joins the PTA?
We welcome any supporter of our school: parents, teachers, grandparents, community members, and local businesses.
MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT PTA
Myth #1. Only moms and teachers need to join the PTA.
Fact: A strong PTA needs the support of parents, grandparents, family members, teachers, school staff, and the community. Anyone who cares about children belongs in the PTA!
Myth #2: Joining the PTA means I have to volunteer.
Fact: The PTA appreciates everyone's membership, whether or not a member volunteers. You can volunteer as little or as much as your schedule allows. There will be plenty of opportunities to get involved, but no pressure. We just appreciate the chance to talk with you and get fresh, new ideas, and support!
Myth #3. I don’t have the time to join the PTA.
Fact: There is no time commitment to join. You can simply join to support the school or just come to a few meetings if that is all your schedule allows. Whatever you do will be greatly appreciated.
